BSCL's membership met at the community house at 7:30 p.m. on April 6 for its monthly meeting. The meeting featured a presentation from Orr Partners on the Village Center redevelopment project, slated to begin June 2017. The meeting was a joint meeting with the Alcova Heights and Douglas Park civic associations.

Vice President Joe Knarich called the meeting to order at 7:30pm.

Program
Orr Partners presented their plans for the Village Center redevelopment project on
Columbia Pike, at the corner of George Mason Dr. The project replaces the Food Star
shopping center.

The project will include upscale residential units, with a Harris Teeter grocery store and
other retail on the ground floor. It includes a plaza with greenery and gardens. Orr
believes the parking included in the building will be adequate for the number of
residents. Food Star is moving out at the end of May, and the project will begin in June.
It will take about two years to complete.

The meeting adjourned at 9pm.
