Where to Find Free Roses near Barcroft

At the Bonair Rose Garden, of course!

That's right, you can sometimes scarf up free roses at Bonair. They are the ones the gardeners toss in the trash early in the morning when they prune. These are slightly over-the-hill blossoms, but if you pick and choose you can sometimes get a nice bouquet that will last several days. They go in trash cans if you don't pick them out! They are available during rose season, with the heaviest supply in mid-summer.

Bonair Rose Garden is at Wilson Boulevard and Four Mile Run, on the opposite side from the tennis courts and on the east side of the stream. It's hard to miss. The roses are spectacular every year.

There are some caveats. Some days the gardeners spray and don't prune, so no roses. And if you see a rose plant in the trash, leave it there--it was diseased and has been rooted out to prevent the disease from spreading.

With current County budgets, the pruning seems less regular than it once was, but try your luck!
