Welcome to Barcroft Neighborhood
Randy Swart's letter on the Pool HallBorrow at will!Randy Swart 4611 Seventh Street South Arlington, VA 22204-1419 March 9, 2004 W.Curtis Coleburn, III, Chief Operating Officer Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control 2901 Hermitage Road Richmond, VA 23220 Dear Mr. Colburn, I am writing to protest the permit application to serve alcohol at the Hi Cue Billiard Hall, 940A South George Mason Drive, Arlington. I live in the neighborhood just behind the pool hall. Over the last few years we have seen four murders there, and there have been untold incidents, despite the fact that the establishment is not serving alcohol. The problems stem from betting on pool, and the Arlington police are unable to curb it. When someone welshes on a bet, violence ensues. Adding alcohol to the mix will simply make it that much more volatile. Please reject this application! Our neighborhood has a Web page up on the problems with Hi Cue. www.bscl.org/poolhall.htm I am enclosing an article that appeared in our Barcroft News two years ago.
