More Barcroft Parade

July 4, 2009

Plenty of music around the Community House. Here is
Barcroft News editor Kathy Kerr with her fiddle.

Michael Nazaretz, our ace accordian player.

This was Julie Gorka's last Barcroft parade, and we presented her with a plaque expressing the neighborhood's appreciation for her many musical contributions over the past 16 years, including the jig Barcroft House. We wish her well in North Carolina.

And we will miss her famous hat.

The Barcroft Marching Band provided post-parade music.

Uncle Sam and friends.

There were cute kids with missing teeth.

And tigers stalking in the garden.

After the parade, the picnic! Hot dogs, hamburgers
lots of salads, sides and more.

Including plenty of mouth-watering watermelon.

And the hungry had a picnic.

The ever-popular dessert table with Pat Williamson serving in her hat.
Many brought cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies...

Wakefield students sang a melodic Star Spangled Banner as the National Guard Honor Guard stood to attention.

Our esteemed Vice President, Steve Wilson, hands out the prizes.
His snappy patter surprised many who thought he was a quiet person!

The kids gathered in the Community House to see The Great Zuccini,
while the adults visited and enjoyed the nice weather.

County Board member Barbara Favola paid a visit.

Then the cleanup began. All the tables and chairs go back inside.

The video of the whole parade is by Dan Junker. Photos above are by Jill Herndon, Jim Kerr, Kathy Kerr, Jenny Markley, Lisa and Dave Piantanida or Randy Swart.

Here are Mike Rhode's great photos of the parade.
