More Barcroft Parade

July 4, 2008

After the parade, the picnic! Hot dogs, hamburgers
lots of salads, sides and more.

And the desserts! Many brought
cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies...

There are always cuties with blue icing on their lips.

Michael and Julie were jammin' and we caught it on video.

Kathy Kerr multitasking with cell and watermelon.

Judge Mike hands out the prizes.

The kids gathered in the Community House.

Where a unicycle circus whiz performed again this year.

While the adults visited and enjoyed the nice weather.

And admired the big new magnolia that Scott Brinitzer planted for us.

Then the cleanup began. That's Parade Director for Life Andrew Hunter with the trash bag.

And Rand Bass after breaking down the reviewing stand he sets up every year.

Rand arrived this year to find a couch awaiting the judges. Although they complimented him on it, he had to admit he did not know where it came from. The next day, Carol Roller sent this email to the Barcroft Chatlist solving the mystery: "The night before the parade, Alan and I are walking home from having dinner with the mastermind of the parade, Andrew Hunter and family, when we come upon Annie and Eric Harold at our driveway carrying a couch. We suspected that it had something to do with the parade, but Eric was mum on that. Seeing them sneaking in the middle of the night down the street with a couch in preparation for the parade made me think the same thing... We live in a great neighborhood. It is a pleasure to live here."

And finally the traditional stomp to pack the trash into the cans.

Unless noted, the photos and videos above are by Randy Swart
More would be welcome.

Here are Mike Rhode's great photos of the parade. And here are lots more from Kimberley Marchant and Anand Mishra.

The Sun Gazette's Scott McCaffrey was there and taking his usual terrific photos, and here is their coverage of the parade.

Last year they published Deb Kolt's great photos.

Here is a link to past years' Fourth of July parades.
