Barcroft Loves its Parade!

July 4, 2006 - Just the way we like it!

It was a fine day for a parade--just hot enough!

First the setup: chairs, tables and more.

The always popular food area.

The cooks fired up the grill, led by Scott Peterson and Phil Anderson.

Bill Nehrke provided great sound again this year.

Pat Williamson, our esteemed President, in traditional hat.

The Woman's Club was there!

Arlington's Finest were there to keep us safe.
At left with Parade Organizer for Life Andrew Hunter
is Capt. Paul Larsen, who sends the monthly crime reports

The National Guard Color Guard from Arlington Hall led off the parade.

The Blue Jeans Band performed traditional marches.

Uncle Sam was there. He was featured in the Washington Post.

Then jillions of bikes,
scooters, floats, wagons and lots of other things.

No helmets. Ouch!

We called this one the Car Pool float. It won a prize.

The Morris Dancers came again this year, and
they danced all the way despite the heat.

Happy spectators lined the parade route.

We had painted faces.

And painted arms.

And painted bellies. It's nice to have young families
in the neighborhood with good timing.
