Barcroft Loves its Parade!

July 4, 2005 - A Beautiful Day!

It was a great day for a parade!

First the setup: chairs, tables and more, by Barbara Swart and Kath McGwyier (photo) assisted by Andrew himself, Randy Swart and Daniel Williamson-Edwards.

The cooks fired up the grill, led by Scott Peterson (rear), Phil Anderson and Alan Dickerson.

Bill Nehrke provided great sound again this year.

Pat Williamson, our esteemed President, cuts the watermelon.

She tests it too!

Parade Director for Life Andrew Hunter makes the lemonade.

The schedule was posted on a tree and on the Web. Jack Turner's parade signs are holding up well!

The Woman's Club was there!

The Fiddlers jammed with the Morris dance players.

There was at least one spectacular "above the fruited plain" hat.

And many things were patriotic red, white and blue

The colorguard led off the parade.

Just behind was the famous Barcroft Blue Jeans Band. Sadly it was the last year for Tom Palance (center drum, red shirt). We wish him well in his new life in Massachusetts.

Our spectacular Uncle Sam was next.

Then jillions of bikes,
scooters, floats, wagons and lots of other things.

Curbside revelers cheered on the parade participants.

We had a contingent of Morris Dancers this year for the first time ever!

Crowds cheered.

The Woman's Club had their banner.

This dinosaur on wheels won a prize.

Neighbors along the route could enjoy
the parade from their front lawns.

This rolling rainforest is a hint of a program coming to Barcroft Elementary at the beginning of 2006.

The Judges were ready. Some units attempted to bribe them by tossing them candies.

Last year's winners chose a Greek theme

The Nats fans were there, and won a prize.

More happy spectators.

After the parade, a "ride" in the fire truck.
