Barcroft Loves its Parade!

July 5, 2004 - Parade on the 5th!

When the 4th falls on Sunday, we move our parade to Monday
to avoid the church traffic. This year we also were lucky
with the weather. It was a great day for a parade!

Arlington's Finest were there to make sure we were safe
when we got on the street.

The cooks fired up the grill and many brought sides, pies,
cakes, cookies and even . . . ice cream, provided by our
neighbors the Woman's Club of Arlington.

Bill Nehrke set up his wonderful sound system.

Pat Williamson cuts the watermelon.

The schedule was posted on at tree and on the Web.

The Barcroft Blue Jeans Marching Band under the
direction of Tom Palance (smiling in the center) warms up--
with two Sousaphones this year.

The Woman's Club was there!

The colorguard led off, followed by the Brownie color guard.

The Brownies had made a great banner, too.

Our spectacular Uncle Sam was next.

Then the band, followed by jillions of bikes,
scooters, floats, wagons and lots of other things.

The Fiddlers fiddled

Crowds cheered, outnumbered by marchers.

Along the route some just went outside and sat
on the front curb.

The Judges were ready.

The winning float: Aloha!

Whoa! Let's see that one again.

It featured polynesian dancers, too.

Aloha included our illustrious President, Eric.
