Our Fourth of July Parades

Back in 1989, Anne Noll stood up in a Barcroft School and Civic League meeting and said "I think we should have a Fourth of July Parade." Her proposal was met by groans from the already-busy folks at the meeting, and Anne said "OK, what if I do the organizing?" So we said yes. Well, the parade quickly grew to be our best-attended and most-appreciated event. We know how to do it now, and it is well worth the effort it takes.

After Anne and Talmadge Williams, our Parade Committee chair for seven years was Mary Ann O'Rourke. You can find her photo in the 1996 Parade shots. Then Andrew Hunter took up the job, first in partnership with Katherine McGuire, then on his own. Andrew is still doing it. Please email him if you would like to be a member of the Parade Committee. Here is how Andrew does it, with consumate skill and minimal fuss!

Here are some photos of typical moments in recent parades.
