BSCL Minutes April, 1996 Meeting
Crime Resistance - Arl. Co. Police officers
The monthly meeting of the Barcroft School and Civic League was
held on Thursday, April 4, 1996 beginning at 7:30 at the
Community House.
Special guest speakers for this meeting were Corporal John Lane
and Officer Cabrales. They are our community-based police
officers. They handed out crime reports for Barcroft and
addressed many issues brought up my the membership. They
reported that there was an increase in robberies and assaults in
Arlington in 1995. They announced a town meeting on April 30th
at Thomas Jefferson High School that will address the gangs and
gang activity in Arlington. They also announced the formation of
a new CBPOP (community Based Problem Oriented Policing) team that
will be assigned to this area starting May 23rd. They had
several suggestions for the neighborhood to pursue in order to
help keep crime down. They suggested we request better lighting
be installed in some areas of Barcroft, that we request extra
patrols from the Deputy Chief, that we request bike patrols on
the bike path, and that the area under the bridge at Four mile
Run and Columbia Pike be patrolled and the trash and debris be
removed. As a result of their information and discussion a
motion was presented.
MOTION - BSCL request that the County Board designate zoned
parking for the area of Wakefield and 9th Streets.
