  • Membership Report-Membership down slightly from last year. See www.bscl.org for forms and dues, ($3/adult, $6/family). Contributions for the community house restoration fund are also welcome.

  • Treasurer's Report, Gary Lefebvre. Rentals of the Community House needed.

  • Traffic Committee-no developments.

  • Neighborhood Conservation Plan, Randy Swart -Volunteers needed to update the Barcroft Neighborhood Conservation Plan (last updated 1990). This plan allows the neighborhood to determine where Arlington public funds will be spent in maintaining the neighborhood. Contact Randy Swart for details on available committees-randy@bscl.org.

    • Areas of concern include traffic, streetlights, parks, commercial development.

    • Plan for updating will be discussed at February BSCL meeting

New Business

  • Rental of Church/Lodge Parking Lots, Randy Swart--The county is about to make a zoning decision regarding ability of churches and lodges to rent their parking lots on weekdays. Potential impact on surrounding neighborhoods. The county will accomplish this through permits, and the permits can be revoked when it comes time for renewal if the community objects. BSCL did not have an objection.

Presentations

  • Daniel Lopez, Cingular Wireless contractor-Cingular requests BSCL approval to put a cell phone tower at Douglas Park or Barcroft Park. Tower would be 100' high. The tower is intended to address coverage issues along Four Mile Run.

    • Motion was proposed to submit letter to County stating that BSCL does not wish to see this tower placed in a county park. Alternative locations may include use of the County yard, which is an industrial-type area owned by the County along Four Mile Run. Further, the County Parks Commission should be made aware of this proposal. Motion carried, no opposition.

Announcements
