I have already had the pleasure of meeting some of you and look forward to meeting others in the next few months. In keeping with Captain Larson’s tradition of community notification, I wanted to let you know what has been happening in District 3 during the month of October. On October 3rd in the Fairlington area, there was a victim of a malicious wounding. The victim did not sustain major injury and we are continuing to investigate this incident as well as locate those who did it. This incident appears to have stemmed from a fight. On October 8th in the Columbia Pike (east) corridor, there was a malicious wounding to a victim; his wounds were non-life threatening and we are still looking for the person who did it. The victim was walking along the Columbia Pike corridor when he was approached and stabbed. On October 11th, there were shots fired near the area of Wakefield High School. These "shots" turned out to be paintballs and they were being fired on some students walking to school. An arrest was made in this incident. On October 16th, there was an attempted robbery in the 3600 block of Columbia Pike at one of the businesses. We are still looking for those suspects. For the Columbia Heights West area, there was a series of Destruction of Property to vehicles in the area of 700/800 South Arlington Mill Drive. During the evening of October 20th and into the morning of October 21, person(s) damaged approximately 19 vehicles with an unknown object. Please be on the lookout for suspicious activity in that area. For those who live in the 2100 to 2300 block of South Dinwiddie Street, during the evening hours of October 19th, someone shattered windows on four vehicles. We do not have any persons of interest as of yet. (Claremont area) On October 29th, a man was robbed while walking in the area of 3800 Columbia Pike. We are looking for two persons of interest in this case. On November 2nd, there was a bank robbery at the United Bank on South 9th Street. We are still looking for the suspect in this case. I also wanted to announce some changes to the District 3 team of officers; we have two new members to the team, Officers A. Bercovicz and M. Tabibi. We are coming close to the holiday season and with the holiday season comes an increase in robberies as well as cars being broken into. Please watch your surrounding when you are out this season; keep a small amount of cash on you and keep your holiday gifts/packages in the trunk of your vehicle and not in plain view in your vehicle. If I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to email or call me. I will try my best to keep you informed as to any major activity occurring in District 3.
